LogicGate Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Policy

Overview

In order to provide high-quality, engaging, and relevant learning experiences that support the professional development of participants, LogicGate adheres to the Statement on Standards for Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Programs as published by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA).

Program Types

  • Group Internet Based (Webinars)
  • Group Live (Conference)

Learning Activities and Content

  • Learning Objectives and Outcomes: All learning activities are designed to meet specific, relevant learning objectives that clearly articulate the professional competence participants should achieve by the end of the program. These objectives are outlined in course materials to ensure participants understand the skills and knowledge they will gain.
  • Prerequisites and Knowledge Levels: Each program specifies the required prerequisites, experience, and advanced preparation needed. Programs are categorized into appropriate knowledge levels (Basic, Intermediate, Advanced, Overview, Update) to help participants determine if the course is suitable for their development needs.
  • Instructional Strategies: Our programs employ instructional strategies that align with the learning objectives and include elements of engagement. For Group Internet-based programs, participants must register for the session in advance using their full name and email. Upon joining, participants must check in by responding to a welcome poll within the first 2 minutes. Similarly, engagement polls will be used periodically to verify active participation. The Web hosting platform tracks poll responses, join times, and leave times. Late arrivals and early departures will have CPE credits adjusted accordingly. For Group Live events, participants must register for the event in advance using their full name and email. An electronic badge reader will track entrance and exits to sessions. For each credit hour, at least three engagement elements related to the course content are included. The monitoring mechanism will be of sufficient frequency, at least 3 instances/times per credit, and lack predictability to provide assurance that participants have been engaged throughout the program as well as having a way to document the amount of time logged per participant.
  • Content Development and Review: Programs are developed by subject matter experts. Programs are reviewed by qualified persons other than those who developed the programs.  These reviews must occur before the first presentation of the materials and again after each significant revision of the program. The participation of at least one CPA is required in the development of every program in accounting and auditing. The participation of a CPA, tax attorney, or IRS-enrolled agent is required in the development of each program in taxes. Participants and instructors are asked to complete evaluations to assess the quality of content, presentation, and whether the learning objectives were met. Feedback is used to continuously improve our programs.

CPE Credits and Certificates

  • Credit Calculation: CPE credits are based on the actual length of the program, with one 50-minute period equating to one CPE credit. Instructors and discussion leaders may receive credit for preparation, review, and presentation time, provided it enhances their professional competence.
  • Certificates of Completion: Certificates include the sponsor name, participant’s name, course title, date offered/completed, location (if applicable), instructional delivery method, amount of CPE credit, sponsor ID number, and a statement that credits are granted on a 50-minute hour.

Program Administration

  • Record Retention: LogicGate maintains records of participation, program dates and locations, author, instructor, developer, and reviewer names and credentials, number of CPE credits earned, results of program evaluations, and program descriptive materials for at least five years.
  • Refund Policy: If a fee is charged for the specific program, participants may request to transfer the registration to another party no later than 48 hours before the start of the program. Requests must be done in writing and sent to [email protected]. Exceptions may be made for extenuating circumstances on a case-by-case basis.
  • Cancellation Policy: We reserve the right to cancel any CPE program due to low enrollment, instructor availability, or other unforeseen circumstances. In the event of a cancellation, participants will be notified via email in advance of the scheduled program start date. Participants will have the option to transfer their registration to another program of equal value or receive a full refund of the registration fee. We are not responsible for any other expenses incurred by participants due to program cancellation.
  • Complaint Resolution: We are committed to providing high-qualit
  • y CPE programs and value participant feedback. If a participant is dissatisfied with a CPE program or wishes to file a complaint, they should submit their concerns in writing to [email protected]. All complaints will be reviewed promptly, and the participant will receive a written response within 30 days of receipt. If the resolution is not satisfactory, the participant may escalate the complaint to the National Registry of CPE Sponsors by following their established complaint resolution process.
  • Course Update Policy: All courses must contain the most recent publication, revision, or review date. Courses must be revised as soon as feasible following changes to relative codes, laws, rulings, decisions, interpretations, etc. Courses in subjects that undergo frequent changes must be reviewed by a subject matter expert at least once a year.  Other courses must be reviewed every 2 years. For group live and group internet-based programs, the revision date is the date of the event.
